Multi-Protocol Animal Chip Reading
The JIA-90B combines two low-frequency bands with three commonly used animal identification protocols:
- 125 كيلوهرتز EMID
- 2 كيلوهرتز FDX-B
- 2 kHz HDX
FDX-B and HDX animal identification tags are supported under ISO 11784/11785, allowing the reader to work with different electronic identification systems used for pets and livestock.
With compatible tags, typical reading performance is:
- 2–12 mm glass transponders: more than 8 cm
- 30 mm electronic ear tags: more than 20 cm
Actual reading distance depends on the tag type, antenna size, orientation, reader position, and surrounding environment.

تطبيقات تحديد الحيوان
The JIA-90B is suitable for animal identification environments where different RFID tag protocols may be encountered.
- Livestock identification – read compatible FDX-B or HDX electronic ear tags used for cattle, sheep, goats, and other livestock.
- Veterinary and animal care – scan compatible implanted animal microchips.
- Breeders and kennels – identify animals using different low-frequency transponder formats.
- Animal shelters and rescues – retrieve electronic IDs from chipped animals.
- Farm and field work – perform portable animal identification without a fixed reader installation.
- Record collection – store up to 128 scanned IDs and transfer the data later through USB.
Animal Chip Scanner FAQs
Which RFID protocols does the JIA-90B support?
The reader supports 125 kHz EMID together with 134.2 kHz FDX-B and HDX animal transponders.
Can one reader detect both FDX-B and HDX animal tags?
Yes. The JIA-90B supports both FDX-B and HDX tags compliant with ISO 11784/11785, allowing one handheld reader to be used with different livestock identification systems.
Can it read both implanted microchips and electronic ear tags?
Yes. The reader can identify compatible implanted glass transponders as well as larger electronic animal ear tags.
Why can ear tags usually be read from farther away than glass microchips?
Electronic ear tags generally contain a larger antenna than implanted glass transponders, which can provide a longer reading distance. Actual performance still depends on the specific tag and scanning conditions.
How is scanned data transferred?
The reader stores up to 128 ID records internally. Stored data can then be transferred to a computer through USB 2.0.
